Class rules and Student Expectations
1. BE PREPARED – Be in class on time and ready to learn when the bell rings. Have your materials ready when the bell rings. Participation is extremely important in my class. Participate actively in the classroom even if activities are difficult. You will be graded for participation. Doing work or studying for other classes will not be tolerated and you will lose participation points.
2. BE RESPECTFUL –Conduct yourself in a respectful manner towards your peers and your teacher. Raise your hand to speak and do not speak while the teacher or your peers are speaking (unless an activity requires it). **Profanity and bullying are not tolerated**. Think of the Golden Rule; Treat others as you would like to be treated. Respect the materials the teacher allows you to use, as well as respecting the property of the classroom. Writing/carving on walls, desks or Defacing Public and Private Property is a Crime. When a person knowingly damages the property of another (painting, writing, etching, graffiti, spray painting, or egging) it is a crime. Don’t do it!
3. BE RESPONSIBLE – Be responsible for your actions. Abide by school and class rules, turn in preparation and practice work as well as projects and presentations on time and keep your work space clean (clean up behind you, around you & if you see trash on the floor, pick it up!). Help your classmates be accountable for their messes! Open drink containers are not permitted. No food (unless prior approval) or gum allowed.
* CELL PHONE USE
Cell phones need to be OFF during school time and may be used ONLY WHEN I ALLOW THEM AND IF YOU HAVE TURNED IN THE NECESSARY SIGNED PAPERWORK. If you use during non-allowed time I will ask you to put it away and you will lose participation points. If it is a recurring issue, the interventions listed will be followed.
Interventions:
1. Verbal Warning, Change Seats if/as needed.
2. Counsel student and phone call home and/or parent Meeting.
3. Referral to discipline office.
*Reminders*
-Copying Preparation and Practice work is cheating-
If you are caught cheating (submitting another student's work), you will receive a zero for that assignment or test, without an opportunity to make it up and I will follow the interventions listed above.
**Students are responsible for obtaining any missed assignments due to absences and assignments are due one (1) day after the student returns from the absence**
An absence DOES NOT EXCLUDE YOU from doing the Preparation and Practice work, assignment or test!
** It is also the student’s responsibility to make up any quizzes or tests. Tests and quizzes will be made up before/after school or during brunch or lunch ONLY and within 1 week of when it was given in class*
Please be sure to see me during office hours or contact me through REMIND to arrange for this.
Preparation and Practice:
Preparation and practice work will be given full credit if turned in on time. It will be taken late for (½) half credit only. Not all work will be collected, but be prepared to turn in work upon request if assigned to you one day prior. Projects that are turned in late will get 10 points off per day late.
GRADES WILL NOT BE ROUNDED UP, please do not ask.
Grading:
A= (89.8%-100%) B= (80-89%) C= (70-79%) D= (60-69%) F= (59% or less)
* I will accept only one (1) extra credit assignment per Semester *
Homework/Practice Check
I may or may not collect ALL class practice, homework or on a daily or weekly basis. I will also randomly check that you are taking appropriate notes, so I may collect and grade those also. Please keep a binder or folder for your work and please keep this organized. YOU WILL GET GRADED FOR THIS. This will also be of great help to you when it comes to preparing for tests and checking that you have turned in all your work
